GTA 6 is delayed again!

Our trip to Vice City has been pushed back yet again

Hold your horses, Vice City hopefuls! The wait for Grand Theft Auto VI just got a bit longer. Rockstar Games has announced that the release of the next instalment in the legendary franchise, initially slated for fall 2025, has been pushed back to May 26th, 2026.

In a statement posted on their official website, the developers explained that the extra time is necessary "to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."

"We are very sorry that this is later than you expected," the Rockstar Games team wrote, acknowledging the immense anticipation surrounding the game. "The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game."

The statement emphasised the studio's commitment to exceeding player expectations, a hallmark of the Grand Theft Auto series. "With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."

Rockstar Games concluded by promising to share more information about the game soon.

The first trailer for GTA VI dropped in December 2023, offering a glimpse into the sun-soaked return to Vice City and introducing Lucia, the series' first female protagonist, with a narrative hinting at Bonnie and Clyde-inspired elements. Since that initial reveal, official updates have been scarce, leaving fans eagerly awaiting more details. Now, that wait extends into the late spring of 2026.
