Defender Octa is the boss of all Defenders

Toughest, most capable and most luxurious SUV in the Defender family!

If you desire to take on any terrain with brute force and sophistication, this piece of news is aimed right at you! The Land Rover Defender Octa has officially arrived in India, with prices starting at ₹2.59 crore. The range-topping model is touted as the most powerful and off-road-ready version of the Defender to date. For those seeking an even more rugged experience, Land Rover is also offering the Edition One, a special variant priced at ₹2.79 crore. The exclusive edition, fine-tuned for extreme off-road performance, will only be available during the first year of production.

The Defender Octa’s cabin stays true to its rugged roots and features some premium upgrades. It has a larger 11.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather upholstery, and a mini-fridge in the centre console. The Octa comes equipped with new performance seats, featuring a 3D-knit texture, integrated headrests, and enhanced bolstering. Adding a sensory twist, Land Rover’s Body and Soul Seat audio tech syncs seat vibrations with the music playing through the infotainment system—so you don’t just hear the beat!

Available exclusively in the 110 body style, it commands attention with flared wheel arches, a larger grille, a revised front bumper, and increased ground clearance. Over to the side, 22-inch all-season tyres (or 20-inch off-road ones for the Edition One) sit beneath a more aggressive stance, with ‘Octa’ badging displayed on the C-pillars. A gloss-black tailgate and roof add to the SUV’s menacing presence.

For those who like their ride to stand out even more, Land Rover offers four bespoke paint options—Carpathian Grey, Charente Grey, Faroe Green, and Petra Copper—all of which can be finished in matte with a protective film.

At the heart of its off-road prowess is the new 6D Dynamics suspension system, which ditches a traditional anti-roll bar in favour of hydraulically interlinked dampers. This setup boosts wheel articulation on rough terrain and minimises pitch and body roll for a more controlled ride.

The Octa also gets tougher and longer wishbones, reinforced underbody protection, and a bespoke drive mode with an off-road launch function. It rides 28mm higher than the standard Defender, bringing ground clearance to 319mm, while its sharper steering rack promises the most precise handling of any Defender yet.

With redesigned front and rear bumpers, it gains a 2.5-degree boost in approach angle, a 2-degree increase in departure angle, a 1.1-degree bump in breakover angle, 100mm more wading depth, and 139mm extra wheel articulation over the standard Defender.

Under the hood, it has a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 mild-hybrid powertrain. Pushing out 635hp and 750Nm (or up to 800Nm in off-road launch mode), the V8 pairs with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. The result? A 0-100kph sprint in just 3.8 seconds and a 250kph top speed—though the Edition One is electronically capped at 160kph.
