Mercedes-Benz’s all-new GLC electric SUV debuts with 713km range

Featuring the brand’s 'Sensual Purity' design philosophy.

Mercedes-Benz has showcased its all-new GLC EQ, an all-electric SUV set to reach showrooms in the first half of 2026. Positioned as the spiritual successor to the EQE SUV, it ushers in the next evolution of the brand’s 'Sensual Purity' design philosophy.

On the outside, the GLC EV makes an impression with its oversized grille, detailed with 942 illuminated dots surrounding the central three-pointed star. Star-shaped daytime running lights front the vehicle, while the rear features a continuous light strip composed of tiny star-shaped LEDs.

A roof spoiler enhances aerodynamics while complementing the sloping roofline. The GLC is said to achieve a claimed drag coefficient of 0.26. Wheel choices start at 20 inches, with 21-inch alloys available as an option.

Inside, the showstopper is the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, the largest display Mercedes has ever installed in a vehicle. Stretching across the dashboard, it unites the driver’s display, central touchscreen, and passenger screen into a single, flowing unit. The latest MBUX software offers cleaner menus and an integrated AI assistant. Mercedes has retained physical buttons and knobs on the steering wheel and centre console, ensuring tactile controls remain at hand.

The GLC EV is built on Mercedes’ new 800V-ready MB.EA platform. In markets such as the US, it will be offered in two variants, the rear-wheel-drive GLC 300+ and the all-wheel-drive GLC 400 4Matic. The GLC 300+ features a single motor delivering 374hp, while the dual-motor GLC 400 produces 489hp, with a top speed of 210 km/h.

Both versions are equipped with a 94 kWh NMC battery and support DC fast charging of up to 330 kW. An integrated DC converter allows compatibility with both 800V and 400V charging infrastructure. As per Mercedes, charging from 10 to 80 percent takes around 24 minutes, or enough energy for up to 303 km can be added in just 10 minutes. On a full charge, the GLC 400 AWD can travel up to 713 km according to the WLTP cycle.
