Touted as the toughest, most luxurious, and most capable Defender yet, the Land Rover Defender OCTA will debut globally in July, starting at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Expected to launch in India in the coming weeks at a price of Rs. 2.65 crore (ex-showroom), the new luxury SUV from Land Rover comes with a dedicated OCTA mode - a performance-focused off-road mode which is said to unlock the full rough-track capabilities of the new Defender. This includes a 'Launch' mode for better performance on loose surfaces, as well as optimisations for the anti-lock braking system for better and safer braking on off-road drives.
What's more, during the first year of production, buyers will be able to purchase the Defender OCTA Edition One - priced at Rs. 2.85 crore (ex-showroom) - which comes in a special Faroe Green colour, chopped carbon fibre detailing, and 20-inch forged alloy wheels with all-terrain tires. Expectedly, the OCTA is a big upgrade over the Land Rover Defender 110.
The Land Rover Defender OCTA is powered by a 4.4L twin turbo, mild-hybrid V8 engine, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. With a rated power output of 467kW and up to 750Nm of torque, the OCTA has a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of four seconds. Interestingly, every Defender OCTA comes with an encircled diamond graphic, which includes a glossy black diamond within a machined and sandblasted titanium disc on each graphic panel.
Interestingly, the front row of the Defender Octa features new performance seats, with better bolsters, integrated headrests, and 'Body and Soul Seat Audio' technology, which is available for the first time in the Defender range. This audio system is said to allow the driver and front passenger to not only hear, but also feel the music.
