Samsung Galaxy S22 preview: What to expect from Samsung’s February 9 event

New year, new gear

The rumours were true after all, Samsung is set to host its Unpacked event on February 9. The first big event of the year is promising quite a lot beyond just the unveiling of Samsung’s flagship phones. Here’s a roundup of everything we know and expect from the Unpacked 2022 event.

How to watch Samsung’s event?

The Unpacked event is scheduled to take place on February 9, and the event will kick off at 8:30PM IST. You should be able to follow the event live via Samsung’s YouTube channel or stay tuned to stuffindia.in for all the latest updates.

What do we know about the Galaxy S22?

The rumour mills have been working at full capacity in the run up to the event, and even Samsung has put out a couple of teasers. There are likely to be three models – Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The biggest hint from Samsung is that the Galaxy S22 series will be very Note-like, specifically the Ultra model. This device is expected to look a lot like a Note sporting with its rectangular-ish form factor, a built-in S Pen, et al.
Expected features include 6.8in QHD+ AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200 chip, multi-camera setup with 108MP primary sensor, 40MP front camera, 5,000mAh battery with fast and wireless charging support, 5G support, and Android 12 out-of-the-box.
The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ are expected to have many of the above features with certain changes to the display and battery sizes, as well as the camera specs.

Will there be any other launches?

While the spotlight will be on the Galaxy S22 series smartphones, Samsung is also expected to take the wraps off the flagship Galaxy Tab S8 series. As per rumours, there are likely to be three models – Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.
Again most of the specs will be shared with differences in the display and battery size. The Tab S8 will sport a 11in, the Tab S8 a 12.7in and a Tab S8 Ultra a 14.6in display. Under the hood will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip along with an Adreno GPU.
The tabs are also expected to come with a 13MP rear camera, 12MP front camera, quad-speakers tuned by AKG, 5G support, and a large battery with fast charging support.
