Instagram’s new video-editing playground, Edits, has officially hit the shelves — nearly three months after its big reveal. Originally teased for iOS, it’s now strutting its stuff on both the App Store and Google Play.
Edits is a mobile video editing app that gives your mobile videos the desired glow-up. You get high-grade capture options, full control over resolution, frame rates, and dynamic range, plus tools like keyframing and automatic captions to streamline the storytelling. And of course, there’s AI — animated images and next-gen visual effects.

You can also record up to 10-minute clips in noticeably sharper quality than what you’d get on the standard Instagram app. Handy tools like touch-ups, one-tap green screen, access to Instagram’s full music library, and a built-in timer and countdown are all right there.
Meta says the real magic kicks in with features like keyframing that lets you animate the position, scale, and rotation of your clips. Say if you have a still image, AI-powered image animation can breathe life into it, transforming it into a video. You can also swap out backgrounds with a green screen or drop-in video overlays. Add to that a generous palette of fonts, filters, voice effects, stickers, and sound options, and you’ve got a creative studio in your pocket.
Edits is also tuned in on the audio front. The app can automatically clean up background noise for crisper sound and toss in auto-generated captions that you can tweak to suit your style, as per Meta. The built-in Ideas tab is your creative notepad, keeping all your brainwaves stashed in one spot.
And, when you’re ready to go live, videos made in Edits can be posted straight to Instagram or Facebook. You can export your creation watermark-free and share it wherever. There’s also a live insights dashboard baked in, giving you a peek at metrics like follower vs. non-follower engagement and skip rates.
