Apple’s new HomePod comes with enhanced acoustics and dapper design

HomePod for your Pad!

January launches are not so common for Apple but 2023 seems to be an exception. Immediately after unveiling the new MacBook Pro and Mac Mini, the Cupertino giant showed the world its all-new HomePod.

The 2nd generation smart speaker is said to have better acoustics. It features a custom-engineered high-excursion woofer, built-in bass-EQ mic and five tweeters around the base. And the speaker would also know where it is kept with its smart room sensing technology that helps the HomePod recognise sound reflections from nearby surfaces to determine if it is against a wall or freestanding, and then adapt sound in real time, interesting, right?

Even the design of the new HomePod is refreshed. It now sports an acoustically transparent mesh fabric and a backlit touch surface that illuminates from edge to edge. The device looks quite capable of elevating the look of a space. Oh, and it even has a colour-matched woven power cable in place of a dull wire.

The device is equipped with Sound Recognition so it can listen for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and send a notification directly to the user’s iPhone. There is a new built-in temperature and humidity sensor that can measure indoor environments, so you can create automations, like close the blinds or turn on the fan automatically when a certain temperature is reached in a room.

The new HomePod can be purchased at a price of ₹32900. You can order it from the official Apple Website starting today.
