Cloud monitoring gets easier with Synology C2 Surveillance

AI-powered eyes on everything

Synology has introduced C2 Surveillance, a new Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS) solution. The system is designed to provide server-less, fast-to-deploy, and non-disruptive cloud monitoring with multi-site scalability. The goal is to build a comprehensive surveillance ecosystem that allows easy integration and management, offering the flexibility to deploy solutions either entirely on-premises or in the cloud.

C2 Surveillance is built to simplify surveillance deployment and management, especially for operations spanning multiple sites. A key benefit is the absence of device licence   requirements, allowing users to add cameras without incurring additional costs or constraints.

Setup is designed to be easy, even on mobile devices, enabling administrators to bring new sites online without specialised training. Advanced AI-powered detection tasks can also be easily configured through the Synology interface.

The system boasts a continuity-first architecture to ensure uninterrupted recording, even during network disruptions. All footage is recorded to microSD cards, with an option to back up recordings to the C2 Cloud for additional protection. C2 Surveillance also supports a failover offline mode, which enables local monitoring even when disconnected from the internet. Security features include AES-128 encryption, multi-factor authentication and granular permission settings

For organisations with multiple locations, C2 Surveillance leverages cloud infrastructure for centralised camera management across all sites. It offers integration with Windows Active Directory for centralised identity and access management and role-based access control for delegating specific permissions.

Additionally, the system supports a low bandwidth mode, reducing consumption by up to 50% with minimal impact on video quality, making it suitable for environments with bandwidth constraints. C2 Surveillance will be available later this year.
