Intel is bringing everything under the Core Ultra family, even the desktop chips and the Intel Core Ultra 200S processors are first of the lot. The focus is to bring AI to your desktop and be more power efficient. Leading the charge is the Core Ultra 9 285K, a beast of a chip with up to 8 Performance-cores and 16 Efficient-cores. That's a mouthful, but basically, it means these CPUs can handle anything you throw at them, from gaming to content creation, all while sipping power like a hummingbird.
Intel's engineers have been busy cooking up some serious magic. These new chips are up to 58% more power-efficient in everyday apps, and they can slash your system power by up to 165W while gaming. That means a cooler, quieter rig that won't have your electricity bill skyrocketing. But don't think for a second that efficiency means sacrificing performance. These CPUs are up to 6% faster in single-threaded tasks and a whopping 14% faster in multi-threaded workloads compared to the previous generation.
Finally, there’s a built-in Neural Processing Unit (NPU). With the NPU, your discrete GPU can focus on pumping out those frames while the NPU handles AI tasks like background blur and face tracking for streamers. It's a win-win situation!
These CPUs come with a boatload of PCIe lanes, support for Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. They hit the shelves on October 24th, so mark your calendars!
