Mercedes-Benz AMG C 63 S E Performance boasts F1 hybrid tech and more

The plug-in hybrid sports car gets a 2L turbo-petrol engine

Mercedes-Benz has launched the AMG C 63 S E Performance in India, its third plug-in hybrid and also the third AMG to launch in India in 2024. Priced at Rs. 1.95 crore onwards, the C 63 S E Performance comes with a 2L turbo-petrol engine working in a hybrid system along with an electric motor to deliver up to an incredible 680hp and 1020Nm torque. According to Mercedes-Benz, the hybrid technology is derived from the same tech used in F1 cars.

Interestingly, this is a plug-in hybrid with a 6.1kWh battery pack, and the C 63 S E Performance can thus do about 13km entirely on electric power, enough for short runs within the city. Of course, nothing stops you from switching to the 2L turbo-petrol engine at any point, which combined with the electric motor delivers top-level performance. The new sports car is rated to go 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds, has a top speed of 280km/h, and gets a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

On the tech front, the Mercedes-Benz AMG C 63 S E Performance gets the MBUX infotainment system, with dual 12.3-inch main display and heads-up display. There is also a Burmester 3D surround sound system with 15 speakers and 710W of output, along with other cool bits such as nappa leather seats, carbon fibre interior trim, and a 360-degree camera system for enhanced visibility and awareness on the road.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG C 63 S E Performance is now open for bookings, for deliveries in Q2 2025. As with many Mercedes-Benz and AMG vehicles, the car is highly customisable, and interestingly, buyers will get a complimentary opportunity to drive the car at the Nurburgring race track in Germany. The company also recently launched the AMG G 63 luxury SUV in India, priced at Rs. 3.60 crore.
