Lenovo has unveiled a new concept laptop to keep you working outdoors without constantly hunting for a power outlet. The Yoga Solar PC is an early-stage prototype featuring a built-in solar panel on its lid.
According to Lenovo, the panel features an industry-leading 24% conversion rate, meaning it can efficiently turn sunlight into power. This is thanks to Back Contact Cell technology, which moves the usual brackets and gridlines behind the solar cells, allowing them to absorb more sunlight for better energy efficiency.
The Yoga Solar PC Concept takes solar charging to the next level with its Dynamic Solar Tracking system, which constantly measures power levels and adjusts charging settings for maximum efficiency and stability—even in low light. Lenovo’s Solar-First Energy system ensures the harvested energy is directed where it’s needed most, keeping the laptop powered without wasting a drop of sunlight.

Lenovo claims just 20 minutes of direct sunlight can generate enough power for an hour of video playback, making it a practical choice for outdoor use. And, at 15mm thin and 1.22kg, it’s touted as the world’s first ultraslim solar-powered laptop, proving that portability and sustainability can go hand in hand. Lenovo has yet to confirm whether the Yoga Solar PC will make it to market.
