Netflix considers adding live streaming to the platform

Subscriber saving measures

With the lockdown coming to an end, people seem to have less time to binge watch their favourite shows. This may be hitting streaming platforms hard, with less people subscribing. In these uncertain times, Netflix has been reported to be exploring the realm of live streaming.

Post the announcement stating their recent loss of customers, the platform has been reportedly seriously considering adding the live streaming feature to retain and entertain their users. This capability has been in development for quite some time, but Netflix has set no tentative release date.

This feature could have several uses ranging from broadcasting, unscripted shows and stand up specials, to reunions for popular shows and social experiments. It would also enable the user to participate in live voting for competitions and talent shows. It could also very well broadcast live sporting events, keeping up with competitors like Disney+Hotstar, and SonyLiv.

Adding live streaming might just convince some currently paying customers to stick around a bit longer in this competitive environment for streaming platforms, although some of you may consider it a step closer to old fashioned cable TV!
