Nintendo Switch 2 is officially out now

New display, more power, same FOMO!

After months of eager speculation, Nintendo has officially unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2—its follow-up to the wildly popular original Switch—though it hasn’t hit Indian shores yet. For now, enthusiasts here will need to rely on grey market routes to get one.

The Switch 2 sticks to the beloved hybrid format that lets you play on the go or docked at home, but with meaningful upgrades throughout. Its detachable controllers—now redesigned magnetic Joy-Cons. They come equipped with updated tech, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, mouse sensor, and the next-gen HD Rumble 2 for more precise haptic feedback. They snap on magnetically, offering a cleaner and more secure connection.

The handheld now features a larger 7.9-inch LCD with a 1920x1080 resolution, HDR10 support, and a variable refresh rate that goes up to 120Hz. Powering it is a custom Nvidia chip with support for DLSS and ray tracing. Storage gets a welcome bump too, with 256GB of onboard memory—double what the original offered. When docked, the console can output in 4K at 60fps, and if you're playing at lower resolutions like 1080p or 1440p, you can expect even higher frame rates.

Audio has been improved as well, with stereo speakers for handheld gaming and a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio. Plus, you get a microSD Express card slot if you need more storage space. Powering the Switch 2 is a 5220mAh battery, which Nintendo says delivers between 2 to 6.5 hours of gameplay depending on the title. The dock includes two USB ports, a system connector, an AC adapter port, HDMI output, and a LAN port for wired internet.

The console is currently available in the US and Japan. Buyers can choose between two bundles – a standard version priced at $449 (approx Rs. 38,500), and a $499 (approx Rs.42,700) bundle that includes Mario Kart World.
