Oakley Meta Vanguard are AI glasses built for athletes who don’t slow down

A training partner, coach, and action cam – all tucked inside a pair of performance shades!

Along with the unvieling of the futuristic Ray-Ban Display glasses, Meta refreshed its existing lineup with an upgraded second-generation Ray-Ban smart glasses and the Oakley Meta Vanguard, a new performance-focused pair of AI-powered sports glasses.

The Oakley Meta Vanguard is priced at $499 (approx. ₹41,600) and billed as the first true ‘athletic intelligence’ eyewear. Engineered with Oakley’s signature wraparound PRIZM lens tech, the Vanguard keeps dust and splashes at bay with IP67 dust and water resistance.

Plus, it’s got open-ear speakers, six decibels louder than before, a five-mic array tuned to kill wind noise. Battery life runs up to nine hours, six if you’re blasting music, with the case adding an extra 36-hour top-up. The 12MP wide-angle camera records in up to 3K resolution, with new tricks like Slow Motion, Hyperlapse, and stabilisation for smooth action shots.

Where the Vanguard really shines is its integration with Garmin and Strava. Meta AI steps in as your live coach, giving real-time stats on pace, heart rate, and distance, all hands-free. The glasses also auto-capture video clips, meaning your personal highlight reel builds itself while you train. With Strava, you can even overlay stats onto your workout footage before sharing it straight to your community.

The Rayban Meta Gen 2, at $379 (approx. Rs. 33,404), is built for those who prefer a more traditional smart-glasses experience. The refreshed model brings brighter colour options, an extended battery life of up to eight hours, and a sturdier case that adds another 48 hours on top. Video capture has been upgraded to 3K, with slow-motion and hyperlapse modes set to arrive via updates later this year.

A new “conversation focus” mode leverages the open-ear speakers to make voices clearer in noisy environments, highlighting Meta’s push to balance fun features with practical, everyday communication.
