Vivo X80 Pro is a flagship phone with top-notch camera chops

Sequel time

Last year’s Vivo X70 Pro+ set new standards with its photographic capabilities, and won Stuff India’s smartphone of the year in the process. Now, the Chinese brand has announced the Vivo X80 Pro, and on paper, it looks like a worthy sequel.
Needless to say, the X80 Pro is jam packed with flagship-grade features, starting with the 6.78in 2K AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. Vivo has interestingly announced two variants – one powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, and the other by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000. The former is accompanied by up to 12GB of RAM, while the latter gets 12GB RAM as standard.
In the photography department, there are again four cameras at the back. The setup includes a 50MP primary sensor, 48MP ultra-wide sensor, 12MP portrait sensor, and an 8MP periscope-shaped ultra-telephoto lens. Up front is a 32MP selfie snapped nestled in a punch-hole.
The 5G-enabled phone is IP68 rated, runs Android 12-based OriginOS, and is backed by a 4,700mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W fast wireless charging support. For security, there’s an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor on board.
Prices for the Vivo X80 Pro start from ¥5,499 (approx ₹64,300), and go right up to ¥6,699 (approx ₹78,300). The brand also launched the standard Vivo X80 at the same event, which comes with toned down specs and a lower price tag. There are also rumours of a top-of-the-line Vivo X80 Pro+, but there’s no word on when it could be unveiled.
