Xiaomi's Mix Fold 3 will have an 8.02in AMOLED display and Leica's optimised cameras

Scrolling, snapping, or folding away!

Xiaomi's Mix Fold 3, the third-gen of its foldable phone series, is set to make its entrance into the Chinese market come August 14. With the countdown on and the big day around the corner, Xiaomi is in full swing, spilling the beans on the device's specifications.

Up until now, Xiaomi has revealed the Mix Fold 3's foldable display and battery performance. The Mix Fold 3 is packing an 8.02in foldable AMOLED display with 2K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. Xiaomi also claims that the smartphone will have a battery life of 1.34 days, courtesy of the dual-cell battery system coupled with Xiaomi Surge chips. While the exact battery capacity still remains a mystery, word on the street suggests that the Mix Fold 3 might pack a 4,800mAh battery, supported by speedy 67W wired charging.

The Mix Fold 3 will also be the company’s first foldable phone to have a quad-camera unit jazzed up with Leica's optimisations. There’s a 50MP main camera, but the jury's still out on whether it will have Sony's IMX989 or IMX800 sensor. The smartphone will also boast a periscope telephoto lens.

Another major upgrade comes in the form of a new hinge technology that as per Xiaomi will help in enhancing durability, minimising screen creasing, and also contributing to a sleeker, slimmer design compared to its predecessors in the Mix Fold lineup.
