Eureka Forbes Smartclean review

The machines are taking over!

₹69,999

Let's face it, the 'smart home' of tomorrow always promised us a life of leisure, and while we're still waiting for jetpacks, Eureka Forbes has delivered the next best thing: a cleaning solution so lazy, it makes us look productive. Enter the Forbes Smartclean, a robotic vacuum that isn't just a vacuum, it's a house-cleaning ecosystem with a cleaning station that has more features than some entry-level hatchbacks.

Design & Build

The Forbes SmartClean doesn't look like an appliance that takes orders. It's a glossy, low-slung disc that glides into its docking station with the poise of a machine that knows it runs the house now. The station itself is large and unapologetic, the kind of thing that politely tells you to make room for progress. It's built solidly, with clean lines and a utilitarian elegance that fits modern homes.

The overall construction feels premium, with plastics that could survive a few accidental nudges and a design that's been tuned for Indian homes. Whether your floors are marble, tile, or wood, the SmartClean adjusts without fuss. Just be prepared to give it a small corner of your home, because the base station is far from discreet.

Performance

Eureka Forbes didn't hold back with this one. The SmartClean has up to 7000Pa of HyperSuction, which sounds excessive until you see it in action. It has enough pull to make your broom redundant and your pet slightly suspicious. It glides around rooms with purpose, pulling in everything from fine dust to biscuit crumbs and stray strands of fur.

If you share your home with a dog or cat, this machine will become your new best friend. Pet hair on the floor and along the edges of furniture is dealt with decisively. It doesn't just move hair around like some cheaper robots do, it actually picks it up and traps it. On thicker carpets, it still struggles a bit with deeply embedded fur, but for daily cleaning it's a noticeable upgrade from the average robot vacuum.

The mopping function is where it starts showing off. It isn't an afterthought. The SmartClean's dual-tank system separates clean and dirty water, ensuring it never reuses the same grubby liquid. The mop pad even gets a hot-water wash and a hot-air dry in the docking station once it's done. That means you won't find a damp, smelly cloth lying around after a week of use. It also lifts its mop automatically when it detects carpet, so your rug doesn't end up smelling like detergent.

In my testing, it handled everyday kitchen mishaps gracefully. Dust, footprints, and the occasional curry splatter were gone after one pass. It won't erase the aftermath of a full-blown Diwali dinner, but for daily upkeep, it performs like a quiet overachiever.

The navigation is another strong suit. LiDAR 3.0 mapping makes it almost eerily aware of your space. It glides through cluttered rooms, avoids cables and pet bowls, and politely detours around shoes that didn't make it to the rack. If you move furniture around often, a quick remap in the app sets things right.

Battery life is rated up to five hours in lighter modes, but realistically you'll get around three hours when running full power and mopping. That's still enough to clean a large flat. When it needs to recharge, it quietly returns to base, tops itself up, and resumes where it left off.

The most impressive part, though, is its self-care routine. The fully automatic cleaning station empties the robot's dustbin into a sealed dust bag that can last for weeks before needing attention. The same goes for the water tanks, which refill and drain automatically. Although that requires a little more attention and emptying once it has reached capacity. The mop pad even washes and dries itself. You could forget about floor cleaning for days and not feel guilty about it.

Verdict

At around ₹70,000, the SmartClean isn't cheap, but it isn't pretending to be. It's a premium piece of kit designed for households that prefer their cleaning to be as automated as their lighting. If you've got pets, kids, or simply better things to do than chase dust bunnies around, this one makes sense. For smaller homes, the price and size might feel excessive, but if you crave low-effort cleanliness, it earns its keep.

The Forbes SmartClean delivers more than just suction power. It brings a sense of quiet competence to home cleaning. It vacuums, mops, empties itself, washes its own mop, and doesn't complain. It can't handle thick carpets or heavy spills perfectly, but it gets so much right that it hardly matters. If your idea of a good time doesn't involve sweeping and mopping, this is the future calling. Answer it.
