The Camera King!

₹ 94,999

The Vivo X200 Pro strides boldly into the competitive flagship space, offering an enticing mix of cutting-edge technology, impeccable craftsmanship, and powerful performance. Vivo's focus on innovation is evident in every aspect of this device, from its sophisticated design and vivid AMOLED display to the groundbreaking camera system that aims to redefine mobile photography. Whether you're a power user seeking raw performance, a photography enthusiast exploring creative possibilities, or simply someone who demands the best from a smartphone, the X200 Pro promises to deliver—albeit with a few compromises. This is a phone that doesn’t just keep up with the competition, it strives to stand apart.

Vivo X200 Pro review: Camera

The Vivo X200 Pro comes with India’s first and biggest 200MP ZEISS APO Telephoto Camera with Bionic Spectrum 3.0, Optical precision calibration, a New GLC Coating and Super Blue Glass. The Vivo X200 Pro isn’t just flexing its 200MP telephoto camera as a headline feature—it’s turning it into a tool that redefines smartphone telephoto photography. This isn’t about zooming in on faraway landmarks and calling it a day. Vivo has packed a suite of telephoto functionalities that elevate its utility far beyond the ordinary and it is bloody brilliant.

Vivo’s Telephoto Hyperzoom allows for extreme optical and 100x digital zoom with unmatched clarity, courtesy of the ZEISS-engineered lens and the APO (apochromatic) design. This design corrects chromatic aberrations, ensuring your zoomed-in images don’t suffer from those pesky purple and green fringes around bright objects. Whether you’re capturing a distant mountain peak or the intricate details of a cathedral’s spire, the X200 Pro delivers crystal-clear results that would make a DSLR blush.

Another thing of brilliance is the Telephoto Macro mode. Be it a closeup of pomegranate skin or the fine bubbles of your morning frothy coffee, the X200 Pro's telephoto lens captures these tiny worlds in exquisite detail. The compression effect of space, combined with the vivo's exclusive macro background bokeh and 200 MP resolution, showcases the impact of photos taken by telephoto cameras in close-up settings. This feature bridges the gap between telephoto and macro photography and probably is one of our favourite features.

Night photography has been one of Vivo’s strong suits, and with the X200 Pro and its 1/1.4 Ultra-Large Sensor HP9, AI algorithms and ZEISS optics, the telephoto lens gets its time to shine—even in the dark. Telephoto Nightscape uses advanced AI and ZEISS optics to amplify details in low light while suppressing noise.Capturing a shady fire hydrant with traffic trail lights or a scale model of a car in complete pitch black environments is child’s play for the X200 Pro.

The new 135mm focal length produces portraits with natural depth and proportions, but it does need ample light to truly shine. The ZEISS bokeh effect adds a creamy, artistic blur to the background, but in low light you can make out that the AI has added a few touches to your subject, albeit it isn’t bad at all for a smartphone. In addition to HD portraits, the camera features zero-shutter-lag, freeze frame, bokeh effects, HDR, beauty enhancement, and advanced focus tracking. It offers Zero-Shutter-Lag Motion Snapshot and freeze frame for moving subjects, while precisely applying bokeh effects to fine details such as hair and hand movements.

And what about video, you ask? The Vivo X200 Pro is the first Android device to support 4K@60 fps full focal length 10 Bit LOG video recording, matching the professional video capabilities and functions of compact Vlog cameras and iPhone LOG shooting capabilities. It can help preserve details in highlights and shadows, bringing greater space for color processing. The X200 also features 4K Super Backlit Cinematic Portrait Video that captures artistic light and works extremely well in a shadowy atmosphere.

The X200 series also features dedicated Street Photography modes which is backed by Zero-Shutter lag tech and adds bokeh intensity adjustment options, incorporating ZEISS Style Portrait bokeh effects for a better bokeh perspective.

Vivo X200 Pro review: Design

At first glance, the Vivo X200 Pro screams luxury. The glass sandwich design reinforced by an aluminum frame gives it a polished and modern aesthetic. It’s available in Black and Titanium but I wish there was an all white version here as well. The phone also boasts an IP68/IP69 rating, meaning it can handle splashes, dust, and even the occasional drop in water with ease. However, at 223g, it leans toward the heavier side, and the 8.5mm thickness can feel a bit bulky, especially during extended one-handed use and yup, you might just have a bloody nose if it falls on your face while you scroll in bed at night.

Vivo X200 Pro review: Display

The 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display is a visual treat. It offers rich colors, crisp detail at 452 PPI, and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate that feels buttery smooth, whether you’re gaming or scrolling through social media. HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support ensure vivid contrasts, making it perfect for streaming movies. The screen’s peak brightness of 4500 nits is a standout feature, guaranteeing visibility even if you are on a spaceship to the Sun. Vivo has also addressed the issue of the curved screen edges with a newer 4D edge technology that reduces accidental touches and swipes, which was quite annoying in the previous variant.

Vivo X200 Pro review: Performance

Powered by the latest MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset, the X200 Pro is a powerhouse. It handles multitasking, gaming, and resource-heavy apps with ease. Paired with up to 16GB of RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, it’s a beast for power users. Benchmarks consistently place it among the best-performing Android devices. However, the heavy OriginOS software layer, designed for the Chinese market, may feel cluttered for those unfamiliar with its ecosystem.

Vivo X200 Pro review: Battery Life

Vivo packs a massive 6000mAh battery into the X200 Pro, which easily lasts a full day of heavy use. The inclusion of 90W fast charging means you can go from empty to 100% in under an hour, while 30W wireless charging offers added convenience. However if you use the camera for prolonged periods especially capturing 8K video, the battery starts draining quite fast but not at an extremely alarming rate.

Verdict

The Vivo X200 Pro is an impressive flagship smartphone that excels in multiple areas, making it a solid choice for power users and photography enthusiasts alike. Its premium design is durable and stylish, though slightly heavy. The 6.78-inch AMOLED display is stunning, with vibrant colors, smooth 120Hz refresh, and excellent brightness. Performance is top-notch, thanks to the Dimensity 9400 chipset, making multitasking and gaming seamless, though the software can feel cluttered for non-Chinese users.

The camera system is its crown jewel, with a 50MP primary sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens delivering exceptional photos and videos. Battery life is equally strong, with fast 90W wired charging to keep downtime minimal. While it has minor drawbacks like the hefty build and overly aggressive AI processing, the X200 Pro offers a balanced mix of innovation and practicality, making it a compelling option in the flagship segment.
