The G-Shock line has had a huge impact on the streetwear community, and Casio has partnered with several high fashion streetwear names over the years. The brand’s latest collaboration is with Skate culture brand Alife, which has inspired a drastic monochrome take on one of G-Shock’s signature watches.
The new limited edition G-Shock GA110 ALIFE21-8A has a clean concrete grey colourway and unique visual flourishes, adding a striking and high-impact new chapter to the brand’s ongoing relationship with the streetwear scene.
Similar to other GA110s, this watch too has a 51.2mm-wide, 16.9mm-thick resin case which creates an imposing presence on the wrist. The case’s heavy, industrial-inspired angles and ridges have been simplified by the pale matte grey monochrome colour palette, creating a beautiful blend of brutality, power and subtlety.
The watch almost feels like it's cut out of a block of concrete. Casio has topped the brushed stainless steel caseback with an engraved Alife logo, to emphasise the partnership.
The watch spares no detail with the stark concrete grey ana-digi dial with a group of custom touches that set this model apart from the rest of the line. Powered by the in-house Module 5146 quartz movement, it is both durable and highly versatile. It also features a world timer, a 1/1000 second chronograph, five programmable daily alarms, a 24-hour countdown timer, LED dial illumination and all the usual features you’d expect from iit.
With claims of +15/-15 seconds accuracy per month, along with a battery life of two years and a hefty 200 metres of water resistance, this watch focuses on both functionality and style. It is available for $180 (approx ₹14,000).
