PlayStation State of Play February 2025: Everything you need to know

A brand-new State of Play has delivered a wave of fresh game announcements, new looks at upcoming titles, and confirmed release dates. We’ve rounded up all the major reveals, complete with full trailers.

1. Borderlands 4

Gearbox gave us a closer look at Borderlands 4, confirming its arrival on PS5 on September 23. The trailer shows off high-octane action, powerful Action Skills, and fresh movement mechanics waiting for you on the planet Kairos. And, to keep the hype going, Sony teased a full gameplay reveal coming during a State of Play later this spring.

2. Darwin’s Paradox!

Arriving on PS5 in 2025, this puzzle platformer puts you in the tentacles of Darwin, an octopus yanked from the ocean and tossed into a strange food factory. With all the evolutionary perks of an octopus, Darwin can scale nearly any surface, blend into his surroundings, and even squirt ink to slip away from foes.

3. Dave the Diver: Ichiban’s Holiday

Be ready for a wave of fun — Dave the Diver is teaming up with Like a Dragon. Kasuga Ichiban’s getaway at the Blue Hole takes a wild turn when he uncovers a dolphin-poaching ring, pulling him and Dave into an unexpected adventure. Expect karaoke, beat ’em up action, and some familiar faces when the DLC drops this April on PS5 and PS4.

4. Days Gone Remastered

Days Gone Remastered rolls onto PS5 on April 25, 2025, featuring enhanced graphics, Tempest 3D Audio, and full DualSense support. It also packs fresh content like the Horde Assault survival mode, a challenging Permadeath option, and more.

5. Digimon Time Stranger

Digimon Story Time Stranger, the newest entry in the Digimon Story series, is coming to PS5 in 2025. This JRPG lets players journey between the human world and the vibrant Digital World, featuring an upgraded battle system and fan favourites like Agumon and Omegamon. Expect to see familiar Digimon in fresh roles and plenty of new adventures.

6. Directive 8020

Brace yourself as the astronauts of the Cassiopeia set off on a perilous mission to save humanity, where every decision could be their undoing. Catch a glimpse of the suspense in the latest story trailer. Supermassive Games has also locked in an October 2 release date for this gripping sci-fi horror.

7. Dreams of Another

Q-Games has unveiled Dreams of Another, the latest chapter in the PixelJunk series, arriving on PS5 and PS VR2 this year. This third-person exploration-action game explores the thought-provoking theme, “There is no creation without destruction.” Instead of blasting objects to bits, your shots actually create and rebuild the world around you. This unique mechanic flips traditional gameplay on its head, promising a fresh, boundary-pushing experience that invites players to see gaming from a whole new perspective.

8. Five Nights At Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic

Steel Wool Games is set to take players on a chilling journey into the eerie world of Five Nights at Freddy’s with Secret of the Mimic. This brand-new adventure comes on PS5 and PS VR2 on June 13, promising more frights and sinister surprises. The latest gameplay reveal offers a glimpse into the spine-tingling objectives and haunting encounters lurking within. Get ready to face the nightmares that await!

9. Hell Is Us

A fresh gameplay trailer for Hell is Us dropped offering a sneak peek at its characters and intense combat. This action-adventure title is set to launch on PS5 on September 4, promising an unforgettable journey into the unknown.

10. Lies of P: Overture

Lies of P is getting a prequel DLC titled Lies of P: Overture, taking players back to Krat during its golden age, just before the chaos of the Puppet Frenzy massacre. You’ll step into the shoes of the Legendary Stalker, a shadowy guide navigating untold stories and eerie secrets. Playing as Geppetto’s lethal puppet, you’ll explore Krat’s sprawling locales, uncover hidden truths, and engage in battles that weave together the past and future of Lies of P.

11. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

If you are excited to set sail in Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s upcoming action adventure, there’s good news – a PS5 demo of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii drops on February 14! Indulge into this spin-off and get a feel for the action before launch day, all while hanging out with fan-favourite Goro Majima.

12. Lost Soul Aside

Ultizero Games invites you to step into the world of Lost Soul Aside, a thrilling sci-fi adventure packed with stylish combat, customisable load-outs, and powerful synergistic combos. Expect stunning environments, unique enemies, captivating characters, and a narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Lost Soul Aside arrives on PS5 and PC on May 30.

13. Metal Eden

Metal Eden is an adrenaline-pumping sci-fi FPS from Reikon Games, set on a distant space colony teetering on the edge of destruction. Playing as Aska, a battle-hardened android, you’ll fight to defend the colonists against relentless threats. Metal Eden launches on PS5 on May 6.

14. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Naked Snake is gearing up to infiltrate PS5 on August 28! To celebrate the release date announcement, Konami unveiled a brand-new trailer for the upcoming remake, giving fans their first glimpse of the Cobra Unit in action. And there’s more – the trailer wraps up with the reveal that the Snake vs Monkey minigame mode is making a comeback.

15. MindsEye

Be ready for a journey of self-discovery with Jacob Diaz in the action-adventure MindsEye. Two new trailers offer a glimpse into the gripping story and intense encounters awaiting players in the futuristic city of Redrock. Scheduled for release this summer on PS5, this narrative-driven adventure promises to unravel the mysteries of Jacob’s past.

16. Monster Hunter Wilds

Capcom swung by the State of Play to build anticipation for the upcoming launch of Monster Hunter Wilds on February 28. But that’s not all—hunters can look forward to facing even more massive monsters, with a post-launch Title Update dropping this Spring.

17. Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny

Capcom delivered a double dose of Onimusha news at State of Play. A fresh gameplay trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword unveiled that the legendary Toshiro Mifune will lend his iconic visage to protagonist Miyamoto Musashi. While this epic is set to arrive on PS5 in 2026, fans won’t have to wait that long for more samurai action—Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Remaster is landing on PS5 and PS4 on May 23 this year.

18. Saros

Housemarque unveiled its latest venture, Saros, set to launch on PS5 in 2026. This gripping action game delves into the eerie tale of a forsaken colony on Carcosa, shrouded beneath a haunting eclipse. Players step into the boots of Arjun Devraj, a formidable Soltari Enforcer driven by an unyielding quest to find his target. An extended gameplay showcase is slated for release later this year, offering a deeper look into this hauntingly beautiful world.

19. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance

The legendary Shinobi series makes a grand comeback on August 29, 2025, with an all-new 2D action platformer revival. Developed by Lizardcube—the creative minds behind Streets of Rage 4—the game features their signature hand-drawn art style, bringing a fresh yet nostalgic look to the classic franchise. Launching on PS5 and PS4, this level-based adventure stays true to its roots with fast-paced action, special powers, and plenty of nods to the series’ rich legacy.

20. Sonic Racing CrossWorlds

Sega has unveiled the first glimpse of its upcoming four-wheeled Sonic racer, set to speed onto PS5 and PS4 in the near future. The new gameplay footage showcases the innovative Travel Rings, which teleport players between worlds mid-race, adding a thrilling twist to each lap. There’s also the Gadget feature, inspired by RPG mechanics, allowing racers to equip and activate various perks on the track.

21. Split Fiction

Hazelight Studios, the creative minds behind It Takes Two, are back with Split Fiction, a co-op adventure exploring the power of friendship, arriving on PS5. You’ll step into the shoes of Mio or Zoe, navigating surreal scenarios shaped by their vivid imaginations. Best of all, with Friend’s Pass, you can invite a friend to join the fun online for free – only one copy of the game is needed for both players to embark on this whimsical journey together.

22. Splitgate 2

Splitgate 2 is gearing up for its Alpha launch on PS5 this February 27, introducing the all-new Multi-Team Portal Warfare mode. This chaotic 3-team, 8v8v8 battle features a massive map—twenty times larger than anything seen before in the series. With 1047 Games keen on player feedback from internal and external playtests, this Alpha is your chance to help shape the future of this ambitious shooter.

23. Stellar Blade

Stellar Blade is teaming up with Goddess of Victory: Nikke for an electrifying crossover packed with fresh content. Expect a thrilling boss battle, collectable dolls, stickers, and new outfits. Both the PC version of Stellar Blade and the Goddess of Victory: Nikke DLC are set to launch this June on PS5 and PC, promising an action-packed experience for fans of both worlds.

24. The Midnight Walk

Moonhood is back with a brand-new gameplay trailer for its handcrafted dark fantasy adventure, The Midnight Walk. Revealed during the last State of Play, this eerie journey now has an official release date of May 8.

25. Tides of Annihilation

Eclipse Glow Studio has unveiled Tides of Annihilation, a single-player action-adventure set in a shattered, mystical version of London. You’ll step into the shoes of Gwendolyn, who wields the power of a mysterious grey mist that can summon two spectral knights to fight by her side. Choosing the right knight for each challenge is key, adding a layer of strategic depth to the gameplay.

26. Warriors: Abyss

Dynasty Warriors takes a bold leap into roguelite territory with Warriors: Abyss, out today on PS5 and PS4! Choose from over 100 heroes and face off against relentless hordes in the depths of hell. Mastering the art of swapping heroes and experimenting with item combinations is key to devising new strategies, helping you conquer fierce challenges and delve ever deeper into the unknown.

27. WWE 2K25

WWE’s Paul Heyman made a special appearance at State of Play to unveil an exciting new trailer for WWE 2K25. The spotlight was on The Island – an online open-world environment packed with WWE-themed landmarks, quests, live events, and shops, all set to make their debut when the game launches on PS5 and PS4 on March 14. Up to 50 players can explore The Island simultaneously, with extensive customisation options allowing you to personalise your MySuperstars.
