Top 5 new features on Meta AI

Smarter and more useful!

At its Connect event, Meta unveiled a host of new features for the Meta AI chatbot, alongside the debut of the Orion AR glasses and the Meta Quest 3S. Among these enhancements are a brand-new voice feature, capabilities for analysing and editing images, and better integration across platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Here’s a rundown of everything new coming to Meta AI!

Meta AI voice

Soon, you’ll be able to chat with Meta AI using your voice on Messenger, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. Plus, you’ll have a range of voice options to choose from, featuring some familiar faces like Awkwafina, Dame Judi Dench, John Cena, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kristen Bell. Like having a star-studded cast right in your pocket!

Image analysis and editing on Meta AI

Meta says the AI chatbot has levelled up with the ability to understand visuals, allowing you to share images and get insightful information about them. For instance, you can upload a picture of a plant and ask Meta AI to identify its species. Meta AI can also make adjustments to shared images upon request. Want to change the background of a group photo or tweak certain elements? Just ask, and watch the magic happen!

Meta AI translation

Meta is rolling out a new AI translation tool that will automatically translate the audio in Reels. This feature enables automatic dubbing and lip syncing, and it’s currently in testing with select creators on Instagram and Facebook, translating between English and Spanish.

More Meta AI updates on Facebook, Instagram and Messenger

Meta is supercharging the Imagine features of Meta AI, allowing you to edit your images with AI-generated elements right in your feed, Stories, and Facebook profile pictures. These AI-generated images are shareable, and you can even recreate images shared by your friends. Plus, there’s a new background feature for Instagram Stories that uses Meta AI to generate a custom backdrop when you share an image from your feed.

Meta has also announced that it's testing AI-generated content in Facebook and Instagram feeds, so soon you’ll see tailored AI-generated posts that align with your interests and the latest trends.

AI Tools for Businesses

Meta is also ramping up its business AIs, rolling them out to thousands of businesses using click-to-message ads on WhatsApp and Messenger in English. This makes it easier for companies to set up AI assistants that can chat with customers, provide support, and facilitate commerce. Whether it’s answering common questions, discussing products, or finalising purchases, these business AIs are designed to help companies engage with more customers and boost sales.
