CES 2023: Samsung’s latest Odyssey, ViewFinity and Smart Monitor models are ready to adorn your play/work desk

Samsung showcased its ace game in the next gen of Display Technology with the launch of Odyssey Neo G9, Odyssey OLED G9, ViewFinity S9 and Smart Monitor M8 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023. And, the devices grabbed a lot of eyeballs including ours.

First things first, the Odyssey lineup with two new models: The Neo G9 and OLED G9. The Neo G9 is a dual ultra-high definition (UHD) gaming monitor which, as per Samsung, will let gamers see "new levels of detail with an unparalleled field of view". The device has a resolution of 7,680×2,160, an aspect ratio of 32:9 and a refresh rate of 240Hz so that you don't miss a thing during fast-paced gameplay.

Its 1000R curved whooping 57in screen uses quantum mini LED technology with VESA Display HDR 1000 for superior imaging in any gaming environment. Plus, the Matte Display reduces light reflection on the screen, minimizing distractions during the most intense gaming sessions. The G9 also boasts the world’s first DisplayPort 2.1 support, which transfers data approximately twice as fast as the previously used DisplayPort 1.4.

The OLED G9, on the other hand, features a dual quad HD 49in 1800R curved display with a 32:9 ratio. Its quantum dot technology OLED lighting is controlled pixel-by-pixel, allowing a near-infinite color contrast ratio. Just like its sibling, the OLED G9 also features a 240Hz refresh rate to eliminate lag and skipping.

It also has Samsung Gaming Hub, an all-in-one game streaming platform that allows gamers to discover and play games in the cloud from partners such as Xbox and NVIDIA GeForce.

Moving on to the ViewFinity S9, this monitor features a 5K 27in screen especially designed for creative professionals. Its 5,120 x 2,880 resolution with a color gamut of 99% DCI-P3 offers precise true-to-form details. Plus, its built-in Color Calibration Engine ensures precise screen color and brightness, allowing users to adjust settings with their smartphones through the Samsung Smart Calibration application.

You can also connect cameras and other devices to the monitor through USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 connections for easy transfer of large data sets.

Meanwhile the Smart Monitor M8 now comes in a new 27in size in addition to the existing 32in screen, both with 4K resolution. The monitor sits on a height-adjustable stand with tilt support and the screen can now pivot 90 degrees.

The integrated SlimFit camera in the Smart Monitor has now been upgraded with 2K resolution and can also work with video conferencing apps such as Google Meet.
