Dyson’s new PencilVac is the brand’s sleekest creation yet. Weighing in at 1.8kg with a slender 38mm diameter, it’s designed to glide — forwards, backwards, even sideways — hugging edges and corners. Thanks to its dual brush bars, manoeuvrability is top-tier, per Dyson.
The real point of attention here is Fluffycones head. It’s Dyson’s only vac with four soft detangling cones, engineered to whisk away long strands mid-clean — so no more uncomfortable contact with hair-wrapped rollers. The angled nylon bristles lift fine dust and guide hair away.
Dyson’s PencilVac features two brush bars, one behind the other, spinning in opposite directions to create a floating effect that lets the head glide in both directions. The four edge-extending cones are designed to sweep up to skirting boards. At just 38mm wide, Dyson says it’s the slimmest vacuum in the world, plus it flattens down to 95mm, perfect for getting under low furniture.
Packing all that power into such a narrow shell meant Dyson had to engineer its tiniest motor yet — the Hyperdymium 140k. This 28mm dynamo is also said to be Dyson’s fastest and most power-dense motor, spinning at up to 140,000 RPM and delivering 55AW of suction.
The Dyson PencilVac is also the first Dyson vacuum to feature a next-gen filtration system that keeps suction strong without the usual filter clog drama. Thanks to a two-stage linear dust separation setup, it captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, letting only clean air back into space.
Dust is compacted inside the bin to boost capacity and cut down on how often you need to empty it. Though the bin is just 0.08L, Dyson claims it can hold up to five times more debris thanks to its air-compressing design. And, when it’s time to empty, the hygienic syringe-style ejection system drives out the dirt while cleaning the bin’s shroud in one smooth motion.
The vacuum comes with a swappable battery pack that delivers up to 60 minutes of fade-free suction, while a magnetic charging dock makes grab-and-go cleaning easy. It comes with two attachments– a rotating combi-crevice tool to tackle high corners and tight spots, and a conical hair screw tool that clears hair from carpets, sofas, mattresses, and stairs without tangles.
It’s also Dyson’s first cordless vacuum to pair with the MyDyson app, giving you access to extra settings, real-time maintenance alerts, and how-to guides for care and optimisation. There's also a built-in LCD screen showing power mode and remaining run time.
The global launch happened in Japan, with availability in India to be confirmed soon.
