Fujifilm just dropped something massive - quite literally - at the Broadcast India Show 2025. The new GFX ETERNA 55 is a large-format filmmaking camera that wants to blur the line between Bollywood, OTT, and big-screen cinema. With a 102MP large-format sensor that's about 1.7 times larger than full-frame, this camera promises visuals so rich and detailed you could count the grains of sand in your wide shot - or the beads of sweat on your lead actor's forehead.
Built around the new GFX 102MP CMOS II HS sensor and X-Processor 5, it captures stunning dynamic range, true-to-life colours, and - in proper Fujifilm tradition - film simulation modes that let you channel everything from vintage Hollywood to gritty noir. There are 20 film simulation modes to choose from, including the crowd-favourite ETERNA look that oozes cinematic charm.
For the control freaks (aka cinematographers), it supports five cinema formats, including Premista, 35mm, Anamorphic (35mm) and Super35, with support for PL-mount lenses. It even comes with the world's first electronic variable ND filter for large-format sensors - because sometimes you want that shallow DOF without frying your highlights.=
Despite the big sensor, the body weighs just 2kg, making it surprisingly nimble for indie shoots or guerrilla filmmaking. It even supports Frame.io Camera to Cloud, Apple ProRes, and 8K/30P 12-bit RAW output for workflows that scream "big studio energy."
