Sony has lifted the veil on Ghost of Yotei, the brand-new samurai action-adventure slashing its way exclusively onto the PlayStation 5 this October 2. Developed as an extension to the Ghost of Tsushima world by Sucker Punch Productions, the game introduces an all-new protagonist, setting, and revenge-fueled storyline, while retaining the sweeping cinematic combat and stealth-action that made the original a standout.

The 20-minute gameplay presentation during the State of Play, hosted by creative directors Jason Connell and Nate Fox, showcases how Atsu’s journey will be both familiar and new for players who enjoyed 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima.
Ghost of Yōtei follows Atsu on a brutal path of vengeance against the Yōtei Six—so feared, many believe she’s an Onryō, a vengeful spirit. Set in 1603 Ezo, the game offers a vast, snow-covered world where you can approach the story your way, with flashbacks revealing Atsu’s past at the press of a button.
Player freedom is given importance this time. You can follow clues through interrogation, explore villages or mountain trails, and shape your journey around combat, story, or discovery. With a new Clue System, bounty hunter missions, Altars of Reflection for unlocking powers, Bamboo Strike challenges, and classic Hot Springs, Ghost of Yōtei promises a more fulfilling open-world samurai experience that’s as personal as it is deadly.
