Insta360’s latest version of its pocket-sized Go action camera, the Go Ultra, has arrived. The new model trades the familiar pill-shaped body for a cleaner, rounded-square design with an offset lens. Compact as ever, it measures 1.8 inches on each side and weighs 53g, about the size of a smartwatch or cookie.
A built-in magnetic base makes it easy to snap onto metal surfaces, while it also works with accessories like the Magnet Pendant, Pivot Mount, Flexi Strap, and more.
Alongside the wearable accessories, the Go Ultra pairs over Bluetooth with its included Action Pod. The Pod comes with a 2.5-inch flip touchscreen, letting you frame shots or even hand the camera to kids for some first-person footage. The main unit itself is waterproof up to IPX8 standards, allowing dives down to 10m, while the Action Pod is water-resistant.
The Go Ultra features a larger 1/1.28-inch sensor, a 221% jump over its predecessor, coupled with a new 5nm AI chip. Together, they unlock 4K video at 60fps, better low-light performance, and the brand’s PureVideo mode, which uses AI to cut noise and brighten scenes. An added ambient light sensor is said to further refine footage by reducing flicker and adjusting colours in real time. For those who like variety, shooting at 4K/30fps activates Active HDR, while switching down to 1080p pushes frame rates up to 240fps for slow-motion clips.
As for battery, the Go Ultra can last up to 70 minutes on its own, with runtime stretching to 200 minutes when paired with the Action Pod. Fast charging gets it back to 80% in just 12 minutes, making it quick to top up between shoots, as per the brand.
Also, unlike the fixed storage of the earlier GO 3S, the Go Ultra adds microSD card support, with capacity for up to 2TB. That means you can simply swap cards instead of constantly offloading footage.
The new Insta360 Go Ultra is priced at $449.
