GoPro has unveiled the new Max2, touted as the world’s first and only camera capable of shooting True 8K 360-degree video. Powered by the company’s Emmy Award-winning 360 technology, the Max2 captures 8K footage with up to 21% higher resolution than competing models, per GoPro. On the photography front, the camera shoots 29MP 360-degree images.

The Max2 supports full-range 10-bit colour in True 8K, capturing over a billion shades for lifelike visuals and colour gradation. For creators seeking more flexibility in post-production, GP-Log encoding unlocks enhanced dynamic range and finer detail, making colour grading and adjustments significantly easier.

The cam introduces new POV and selfie modes, enabling quick, in-camera shots. A lineup of 16 redesigned mounts and accessories allows for invisible mounting and drone-like 360-degree perspectives.

Engineered for adventure, it sports an aerodynamic, waterproof build with replaceable glass lenses for enhanced durability and long-term use. Powering it all is a 1960mAh Enduro battery that delivers dependable performance even in cold environments, while built-in GPS adds precise location data to every capture for richer storytelling.

It also features twist-to-remove replaceable lenses, so you can swap them without recalibration. Editing is made smarter with AI-powered tools in the Quik app, including intelligent object tracking and MotionFrame-style panning for cinematic results.

For power users, GoPro Labs support adds pro-grade capabilities, including optional firmware upgrades that push bitrates up to 300Mbps and unlock a range of advanced settings.

Audio performance on the Max2 gets a major upgrade, thanks to six built-in microphones that capture 360-degree sound. With features like Bluetooth connectivity, Audio Field-of-View, stereo recording, and wind-noise reduction, audio remains crisp and clear, and ambisonic audio support is set to arrive soon.

The new GoPro Max 2 camera is priced at $499 (approx. Rs. 44,500).
