Nothing Ear (1) gets voice assistant support; here’s how to enable it

Nothing’s Ear (1) are among the best truly wireless earbuds in its segment both in terms of features and audio chops. There are however a few things missing that would make them a complete package. One of them being support for voice assistants, and the folks at Nothing have addressed that.
The company has now rolled out a firmware update for its buds that improves a few things like connectivity with devices, stability, and in-ear detection. But more importantly, this update also brings with it support for voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple’s Siri.

How to update Nothing Ear (1)

To update the earbuds, open the Nothing app on your smartphone, tap the three dots on the top-right corner, and scroll down to ‘Firmware Update’. 
Tap on that to open the update, page, and then hit ‘Download and Install’.  Keep in mind that this option and updating is only possible while the earbuds are connected to the smartphone.

How to enable voice assistant on Nothing Ear (1)

Once updated, you can enable voice assistant by using a gesture on either the left or the right earbud. On the app homepage, tap on ‘Touch’ and then ‘Triple Tap’. 
Here you can select between Next Song, Previous Song, Voice Assistant or No action. With the voice assistant option enabled, you can call out Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri by triple tapping the earbud.
