Sonos has just pulled the curtain back on a trio of powerful new audio products hitting the Indian market today. Leading the charge is the premium Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar, debuting some intriguing new driver tech. It's joined by the updated Sonos Sub 4 subwoofer, promising deeper bass and a refreshed look, and the Sonos Era 100 Pro, the company's first speaker specifically designed for professional installation requirements. If you're looking to upgrade your home cinema sound or kit out a commercial space, Sonos has some new toys to consider.
The star here is the Arc Ultra. Sonos says it features breakthrough ‘Sound Motion technology’, using innovative transducers that are smaller but apparently deliver up to twice as much bass as the original best-selling Arc. The result? A claimed 9.1.4 spatial audio experience with Dolby Atmos support, all wrapped in a sleek, curved design with a matte finish.
It boasts 14 drivers in total, including special tweeters with waveguides at each end for that immersive soundstage. Sonos has also focused on dialogue clarity with a new centre channel architecture and an advanced Speech Enhancement feature adjustable via the Sonos app. Setup is via HDMI eARC, and Trueplay tuning is now available for both iOS and Android users. Bluetooth line-in is also included for more streaming options.
Accompanying the Arc Ultra is the Sub 4. This update to Sonos's iconic subwoofer keeps the familiar look but adds a refreshed matte finish (in Black and White) and promises even deeper, more dynamic low-end grunt thanks to its dual inward-facing, force-cancelling woofers (designed to eliminate buzz and rattle). Internally, Sonos says it has increased processing power and memory, and added new WiFi radios for better connectivity, while also reducing idle power consumption compared to its predecessor.
Rounding out the launch is the Era 100 Pro. Based acoustically on the existing Era 100 speaker, this Pro version is Sonos' first dedicated offering for professional installers kitting out homes or light-commercial spaces like retail stores or hotels. The key difference is Power over Ethernet+ (PoE+) support, delivering both power and data over a single cable for simplified setup and integration. It also works with standard PoE. Pro installers get access to new 'Zones' software for managing larger setups and pro-grade mounts (sold separately) for flexible installation.
Fancy hearing them? The new gear will be showcased at the Smart Home Expo from May 8th to May 10th and Palm Expo from May 29th to May 31st in Mumbai. The Sonos Arc Ultra is priced at Rs. 99,999 and the Sonos Sub 4 at Rs. 84,999, and both are now available in India. The Era 100 Pro is sold exclusively in pairs through select professional installation partners, also starting today.
