One reason to upgrade? Too easy. The Yamaha True X Surround 90A gives you twelve. The Yamaha True X Surround 90A follows a more-is-more philosophy with 12 up-firing speakers built into a modular four-box setup. The system brings together a main soundbar, a subwoofer, and two wireless rear speakers, all working in sync to create an expansive, cinema-like soundstage that fills the room from every angle.

At each end of the Yamaha True X Surround 90A sit six 28mm drivers angled toward the ceiling, bouncing sound overhead to create the illusion of height. These 12 upward-firing channels are driven by Yamaha’s YDA-141 amplifier, designed to replicate the effect of ceiling-mounted speakers without the installation hassle, per the brand.

The soundbar supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and Yamaha says it’s also the first of its kind to decode Auro-3D, a rival spatial audio format. Adding to that, the company has brought in its Surround:AI technology from its AV receivers, delivering adaptive audio processing that tailors sound in real time, another first for Yamaha soundbars.

Behind the grille, the True X Surround 90A features four oval mid-range drivers and three tweeters, while the wireless subwoofer is on bass duty. The two battery-powered rear speakers each house a 58mm full-range driver with a passive radiator, and when you’re not using them for surround sound, they can moonlight as standalone Bluetooth speakers.

The Yamaha True X Surround 90A also offers plenty of connectivity options, with HDMI (including eARC), optical, and Ethernet ports, plus CEC support so you can control everything with your TV remote.

On the wireless side, it works with Yamaha’s MusicCast app for streaming from Spotify and other services, and it also supports Apple AirPlay. And, thanks to the True X wireless system, the soundbar, subwoofer, and rear satellites stay in sync, while the rear speakers can double as standalone Bluetooth units when needed.

The Yamaha True X Surround 90A system is priced at $3499 (Rs. 3,05,704).
