Can you resist the allure of this roadster?

What do you get when you combine the raw power of Mercedes AMG with the elegance of a roadster? The answer is simple, it’s the all-new Mercedes AMG SL 55, the latest sensation to hit the Indian automotive scene. With a price tag of ₹2.35 crore (ex-showroom, India), this beauty comes with a 2+2 seating layout and a sleek fabric roof.

The AMG SL 55 roars to life with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo, V8 petrol engine. With a 476hp and a 700Nm of torque, this powerhouse is paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. As the wheels grip the asphalt, the might of Mercedes' 4Matic+ system propels this roadster forward. Oh, and the SL 55 sprints from 0 to 100kph in a mere 3.9 seconds, setting hearts racing, while its top speed of 295kph defies the limits of exhilaration. The SL also boasts rear axle steering as standard.

The interior of the SL takes inspiration from Mercedes' recent S-Class and C-Class models. There is an 11.9in touchscreen, positioned vertically which offers adjustable angles between 12 and 32 degrees. Powered by Mercedes' advanced MBUX operating system, this touchscreen provides a range of display options, including specialised AMG and soft-top modes. Complementing the touchscreen are a 12.3in LCD driver display and an optional heads-up display positioned behind the AMG twin-spoke steering wheel.

To cater to individual preferences, the SL offers a selection of five interior upholstery choices. Additionally, you can also personalise the interior further by opting for either aluminium or carbon fibre trims. When it comes to seating, two options are available: AMG sports seats and AMG performance seats.

There are various other enhancements for a luxurious driving experience. Like a Burmester sound system, an Airscarf function that directs warm air toward the head and neck of front occupants to counter turbulence when the convertible roof is down, and the optional AMG Track Pace program that records a comprehensive range of data up to 10 times per second while on the track, providing valuable performance insights.

The SL 55 roadster has increased dimensions compared to its predecessor and the wheelbase has also been extended by 117mm to 2,700mm to accommodate the new rear seats. Other notable design features include a large Panamericana front grille, angular LED headlights, a sleek bonnet with power domes, a sloping windscreen, quad exhausts, and 20in standard alloys. For that extra oomph, optional 21in alloys with a different design are also available.

The SL 55 offers a choice of eight paint shades: Obsidian black, Selenite grey, Hyper blue, Alpine grey, Opalite white bright, Spectral blue magno, Patagonia red bright, and Monza grey magno.
