007 First Light is the Bond game we have been waiting for!

With gameplay that’s been shaken, not stirred

Do you remember the joys of 007 GoldenEye? Do you wish you could put yourself back in the suede shoes of the world's greatest spy? Well, you’re in luck!  IO Interactive, the minds behind Hitman, have officially unveiled their next big project: 007 First Light. This upcoming third-person action-adventure game is a standalone reimagining of James Bond’s origin story, set to launch in 2026.

In 007: First Light, players will meet a 26-year-old Bond, who is not yet the polished 007 we know. Instead, he's a young man with sharp instincts, still learning the ropes of espionage. His journey begins as a Navy air crewman, where an act of bravery propels him into MI6’s demanding training programme. Ultimately leading to his first mission, to hunt down and kill the elusive and manipulative 009. This completely original story is being developed in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios.

The game promises varied gameplay, mixing intense combat, full-throttle driving, stealth, and cutting-edge gadgets, and knowing IO Interactive, they have what it takes to deliver; they’ve even gone so far as to give Bond the scar on his cheek he had in the novels. Players will travel the world, exploring diverse locations from snow-drenched mountains to sun-soaked beaches. You'll encounter familiar faces from the James Bond franchise like M, Q, and Moneypenny and even meet new characters such as Greenway, Bond’s first mentor. The game is powered by IO Interactive's proprietary Glacier engine, immersing players in a world of deception and danger.

007 First Light is set to release on PlayStation 5 in 2026. It will also be enhanced for PlayStation 5 Pro, utilising PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) and offering optimised performance, allowing gameplay at 60 FPS in Quality Mode. More details about gameplay and story are expected later this year. It is also set to release on Xbox X|S, PC and the Nintendo Switch 2.
