2024 BMW M3 CS will bring more power and less weight for a hefty price

Whip out the green

The high-performance versions of the BMW M3 and M4 have been available for a few years now, so they are officially in full swing. The M4 CSL was unveiled last year but this year BMW expands its roster with the 2024 M3 CS.

If you are already familiar with the formula for BMW CS models, you know "CS" stands for Competition Sport, and this one follows suit. With the modifications, the 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six engine now generates 543 horsepower, an increase of 40 horsepower over a standard M3 Competition. BMW claims that by boosting the boost pressure from 24.7 psi to 30.5 psi, it was able to find more power. Additionally, it includes model-specific modifications to the engine management programme.

The CS will only be available with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, which are both required for it to be the fastest M3 model with a 0-60 mph time of just 3.2 seconds. This is 0.2 seconds faster than an M3 Competition xDrive without CS. The CS is 8 mph faster at top speed, reaching a maximum of 188 mph.

The chassis receives some well-chosen improvements for better handling performance. According to BMW, the electronically controlled dampers and anti-roll bars have been specifically calibrated for the CS model. Additionally, it has model-specific axle kinematics adjustment and special wheel camber settings. The tyres are mounted on standard forged wheels that are either matte black or gold bronze in finish, measuring 19 inches up front and 20 inches behind. Although carbon ceramic brakes are an option, the M3 Competition xDrive comes with standard brakes. The hood (two visible strips), roof, front splitter, front air intakes, mirror caps, rear apron, and rear spoiler are made of exposed carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP).

BMW only offers one interior upholstery choice for the seats: black Merino leather. Mugello red stitching and pieces are strewn throughout as accents. The door sill plates also read "M3 CS," and a red "CS" logo is put on the centre console. The Alcantara-wrapped M steering wheel has a red centre marking. It is equipped with carbon fibre paddle shifters, and the inside trim continues the carbon fibre concept. The M Drive Professional package, which includes the M Drift Analyzer, lap timing capabilities, and the 10-stage traction control system, is standard equipment on every M3 CS. Last but not least for us here at the Stuff HQ, the M3 CS includes the new 14.9-inch Curved Display and revised centre stack found on the ordinary 3 Series.

This car will be in limited numbers and is priced starting at $119,695 (about ₹97 lahks) with production set to begin in March this year.
