Apple is now rolling out iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 to compatible devices all over the world. Notably, this brings big changes to Apple Intelligence, including new features and enhanced language support for English in different regions and locations including the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa. While the software updates for the latest versions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS will roll out to a wider range of compatible devices, Apple Intelligence is available only on select devices - iPhone 15 Pro and later, iPad models with A17 Pro or M1 and later chipsets, and Mac devices with M1 and later chipsets.

Notably, the updates also bring optional support for ChatGPT in Apple Intelligence, along with other features such as Genmoji, Image Playground, Writing Tools enhancements, and visual intelligence. Image Playground allows users to use AI to generate images based on prompts, similar to how AI tools such as Dall-E work. Genmoji lets iOS users create custom emoji from prompts, which can then be shared with others through supported apps.
Writing tools now let you describe how you want to change highlighted text, building on the existing options of rewrite, proofread, and summarise. ChatGPT integration gives users the ability to access the abilities of the popular AI system, to get more contextual or effective results.

Usefully, language support has been enhanced for Apple Intelligence, which started out with support for only English (US). Localised English language support for the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and South Africa is now available, giving more users a chance to work with Apple Intelligence in their own specifically localised English language versions. Support for more languages, including English (India) will be coming in April 2025 via a major software update.
