Apple iPhone Air is thinner than a pencil, but it’s also more than that!

iPhone is in the Air

Borrowing a name from its laptop cousin, the all-new iPhone Air is bonkers thin, surprisingly tough, and has some very clever camera tricks up its sleeve. And when we say thin, we mean it. At just 5.6mm, Apple has put the iPhone on a serious diet. It’s crafted from glossy titanium and, for the first time, is wrapped front and back in Ceramic Shield, with Apple claiming the new front glass is 3x more scratch-resistant.

The real head-turner, apart from its svelte profile, is the camera system. The back gets a versatile 48MP main snapper that promises pro-level shots. But the front is where the real sorcery is happening. The iPhone Air features a new 18MP square front camera sensor. What does that mean? Well, you can now take a landscape selfie or video while holding the phone vertically. Let that sink in. It uses a bigger camera sensor to expand the field of view for group shots, and can even record from the front and back cameras at the same time.

You’d be forgiven for thinking a phone this thin would have the battery life of a cat, but Apple seems confident it’ll go all day. That’s apparently down to some clever internal Tetris with the components and a trio of new, super-efficient chips; the powerhouse A19 Pro for general oomph, a new N1 chip for speedy wireless networking, and a C1X cellular modem that sips less power.

The 6.5-inch ProMotion display is also brighter than ever, which should make it a treat to use under the Mumbai sun. As with its Pro siblings, you get an Action button, but it’s joined by a new ‘Camera Control’ button for quick snaps. Just be aware, to get this slim, the physical SIM tray has been given the boot; it’s eSIM only.

The Apple iPhone Air will be available in space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue, starting with 256GB storage, as well as 512GB and 1TB options. Prices start at Rs. 1,19,900.
