Apple’s BKC store is opening for you on April 18!

Ready for this marvel?

We already told you that Apple’s brand new store at BKC is inspired by the iconic Kaali Peeli taxis of Mumbai. But there is so much more to the design. Picture this: you walk into the Apple BKC store and are immediately welcomed by two gorgeous stone walls hailing all the way from Rajasthan.

As you look up, you'll notice a handcrafted timber ceiling that's no ordinary ceiling. No sir, it's a triangular masterpiece that extends beyond the glass façade and is made up of a whopping 450,000 individual timber elements all of which were assembled in Delhi. This ceiling is no joke. But wait, there's more! Each tile of the ceiling is composed of 408 pieces of timber, forming 31 modules per tile, and there are a grand total of 1,000 tiles that make up the ceiling.

And, pièce de résistance: the 14-meter-long stainless steel staircase that connects the ground level to the mezzanine. Our favorite is still the fact that the BKC store is one of the most energy-efficient Apple Store locations in the world. It is equipped with its own solar power system, and doesn't rely on any fossil fuels to operate. Plus it's operationally carbon neutral, running on 100 percent renewable energy.

By now you also know that you can explore products and services at the store and get in depth information on any and everything Apple. But the Cupertino giant is also bringing something extra for its beloved Indian consumers. A special Today at Apple series, “Mumbai Rising,” starting Tuesday, April 18 — the store’s opening day — through the summer. They will get visitors, local artists, and creatives for sessions on Apple products and services offering hands-on activities to celebrate the local community and culture.

Fun fact: there will be more than 100 team members who collectively speak over 20 languages. So Apple has got it all covered!
