Ayaneo Pocket Micro’s Retro Gold edition handheld is a pint-sized nostalgia machine

There are some gadgets that manage to spark both the thrill of new tech and a touch of nostalgia—Ayaneo’s latest Pocket Micro Retro Gold Limited Edition is one of them. The gaming handheld fuses retro-inspired design with modern hardware. 

The limited edition handheld has a 3.5-inch IPS display, featuring a 960×640 resolution and a 330 PPI pixel density. The screen delivers 400 nits of brightness, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and 100% sRGB colour accuracy, along with 115% colour volume for vibrant visuals. The Pocket Micro Retro Gold Limited Edition features a lightweight design, tipping the scales at 233g, and is crafted with a durable CNC aluminium alloy frame.

The handheld is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset that as per Ayaneo offers smooth performance for 4X GBA games. The chipset is paired with LPDDR4X RAM running at 4266 Mbps and UFS 2.2 storage. It works on Android 13 and integrates Ayaneo’s custom software tools, including the AyaSpace front-end management system and the AyaHome desktop launcher for enhanced usability and customisation options for settings and shortcuts.

It features Hall effect joysticks, touch-sensitive shoulder buttons, a six-axis gyroscope, and an X-axis linear vibration motor. And, houses a 2600mAh battery, which Ayaneo claims provides over six hours of gaming on a single charge.

For connectivity, the handheld includes a USB Type-C port with OTG support, a Micro SD slot for expandable storage, WiFi 5, and Bluetooth 5.2. A fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button adds an extra layer of security.

The device is offered in a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, priced at 1,899 yuan (approximately ₹22,200).
