BMW has launched the R 12 nineT and R 12 models in India as Completely Built Units (CBU), with deliveries starting in September 2022. The R 12 nineT is priced at ₹20,90,000 (ex-showroom), while the R 12 comes in at ₹19,90,000 (ex-showroom).
Both models sport a timeless design powered by a 1,170cc two-cylinder Boxer engine. The R 12 nineT showcases a retro roadster style, while the R 12 embodies a laid-back cruiser aesthetic. They feature classic trellis frames, horizontally positioned shock absorbers, and updated engine components.
The R 12 nineT has an aluminium tank with brushed side panels, delivering 80 kW (109 hp) at 7,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Meanwhile, the R 12 generates 70 kW (95 hp) at 6,500 rpm with a torque of 110 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Both models utilise an air/oil-cooled boxer engine configuration.
The BMW R 12 nineT is equipped with "Rain," "Road," and "Dynamic" riding modes as standard, while the new R 12 introduces "Roll" and "Rock" modes for personalised riding preferences.
Both motorcycles prioritise safety and comfort with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) for enhanced acceleration stability. They also feature engine drag torque control and Tyre Pressure Control as standard. The adaptive Headlight Pro system enhances nighttime visibility for safer rides.
For braking, both models include twin disc brakes on the front wheel with radially mounted four-piston monobloc brake callipers, complemented by a single disc brake on the rear wheel. ABS Pro ensures safer braking performance, especially during cornering manoeuvres.
