The Casio G-Shock DW-5000R is a classic, re-imagined

The new watch pays homage to the first G-Shock, introduced in 1983

Casio has launched the G-Shock DW-5000R, a new digital watch that pays homage to the very first G-Shock introduced in 1983. The DW-5000R is a bit more modern in its function, although it retains the classic styling of the 1980s era lineup for G-Shock. With a stainless steel case, retro-style resin band, and modern touches such as a high-brightness LED for the digital time display, the new watch delivers a combination of retro styling and modern function.

Interestingly, the DW-5000R is manufactured at Casio Yamagata in Japan, considered the main and most advanced factory which makes Casio timepieces. Meant to be a tribute to the original, the DW-5000R retains many of the aesthetic touches of the original 1983 G-Shock, including the bold typography, red borders around the display, and more.
