While plans and talk of this drone-like camera have been flying around for years, last week at CES this device of dreams finally made its debut. While it isn’t all there yet, the device is set to be launched around 2024 at the earliest.
Officially dubbed the ‘Ring Always Home’ Cam, this “new kind of camera” buzzes about your house to monitor its security from multiple angles and viewpoints. This unique new device will be added to Ring's large lineup of doorbells and home security cameras, which are offered globally. The demonstration showed the black, T-shaped cam that enables the owner to control the flight path as it circles the home.
The camera can be linked to your phone so you can keep tabs on the happenings of your abode. Monitor it in 1080p when you’re at work or even away on vacation. Like most safety devices, it can also be triggered by certain things, like an alarm going off or an intruder entering and will instantly fly to that location. Additionally, it will automatically fly back to its dock, turn off the camera, and recharge when you arrive home.
The cam drone will cost about $250 and be available only in the US by invitation for now. But, none of this has stopped the stir among the people as we enter a new phase of home security and machine learning.
