Citroen has unveiled the design of its upcoming crossover coupe, the Basalt. The French automaker has offered a first look at the vehicle's exterior, showcasing a distinctive profile that blends elements from its heritage with a modern twist.
Inspired by the iconic 1974 CX and C4 models, the Basalt features a sloping roofline that lends it a sporty coupe-like appearance while sharing some design cues with its C3 Aircross sibling. Citroen's upcoming Basalt blends the sleek lines of a coupe with the practicality of an SUV.
Citroen claims this vehicle marries the elegance of a coupe with the practicality of an SUV, promising a unique driving experience. The India-spec model is expected to debut with at least a few new colour options. While Citroen has not yet unveiled interior images, the cabin is anticipated to feature a seven-inch all-digital instrument cluster, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, automatic temperature control, a multifunctional steering wheel, USB Type-C/Type-A charging ports, fabric or leatherette seat covers, rear seat air-con vents, and more.
Under the hood, the Basalt will likely be powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine delivering 110PS and 205 Nm of torque. This engine will probably be paired with a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
