At Computex 2025, Acer entered the AI wearables space with a smart health ring and language-savvy earbuds. Dubbed the AI TransBuds, these earbuds claim to handle real-time translation across 15 languages—and not just one-way chatter. They’re built for proper two-way conversations, even if only one person is wearing them.
While Acer hasn’t shared all the technical details yet, the buds appear to pack dual microphones that can pick up voices from both sides of the exchange. The translated response is then relayed via AI, making casual cross-language chats far more natural.
Interestingly, Acer says the AI TransBuds only need one wearer for smooth two-way translation, which could come in handy for everything from business chats and online classes to livestreams. The buds also support live captioning and transcription—useful if you want to replay a conversation or keep notes without lifting a pen.
That said, they’re not fully standalone just yet. The TransBuds still need a plug-in receiver connected to a phone or tablet to handle real-time translation duties. And, while Acer hasn’t spilt the beans on what AI models are doing the linguistic heavy lifting, the concept’s intriguing.
Acer’s second wearable, the FreeSense Ring, joins the growing pack of smart rings aimed at health tracking. Crafted from lightweight titanium alloy, it keeps tabs on your heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen levels, and sleep quality. All that data syncs to a companion app, which also dishes out personalised wellness tips based on your stats.
