The Nothing Phone 1 may not have been hailed as the best phone of 2022 but its distinctive light-up back aka The Glyph, and its premium design undoubtedly made it the most intriguing smartphone to be released. Now, as the release of the second edition of Nothing Phone draws near, we have gathered a comprehensive overview of the available info, offering you a glimpse into what can be expected from this upcoming device. And the good part, Nothing recently revealed that you can place your pre-orders on Flipkart starting June 29, and can also avail exclusive offers on pre-orders of the smartphone.
In an interview with Inverse, Carl Pei, the CEO of Nothing, spilled the beans and confirmed that we're in for a treat with the release of the Nothing Phone 2 in 2023. “We’re developing a smartphone that’s more premium than the Nothing Phone 1, and software will be a big focus area for us,” Pei said in the interview.
Some detailed leaked renders thanks OnLeaks and Smartprix show the upcoming Nothing Phone (2) seems to sport a familiar design but with a twist of rounded edges. The series of LED lights with the Glyph interface that we all fell in love with is still there, shining bright. But the flat edges have taken a backseat and given way to curvier ones.
The glass panels on both the front and back are also curved around the edges, adding a touch of elegance. And the camera's flash has gone through an upgraded party! It looks like we're in for a dual-LED system, stepping up from the single LED flash of its predecessor.
In the most recent development, Nothing has introduced the new Glyph Composer along with a first of its kind creative collaboration. Grammy Award-nominated electronic music titans and global supergroup Swedish House Mafia have partnered with Nothing to launch an exclusive Glyph Ringtone composition and Glyph Sound Pack.
Some details about the specs of the upcoming Nothing Phone (2) by MySmartPrice show we can expect the smartphone to rock a 120Hz adaptive AMOLED display. And a 5,000 mAh battery. The Phone (2) is rumoured to come packed with a beefy 12GB of RAM and a generous 256GB of storage. But here's where things get even more interesting: rumour has it, an "unannounced" Snapdragon 8 series SoC from the legends at Qualcomm will be powering this baby. While the specific chipset hasn't been revealed, we can only imagine the performance leap it will bring.
These specs might sound somewhat similar to the Nothing Phone (1) that offered options of 8GB or 12GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage, a 4,500 mAh battery, and a 120Hz OLED display. However, the switch from OLED to AMOLED in the Phone (2) should result in improved image quality. As for the display resolution, we're not certain if we'll see an upgrade from FHD to QHD just yet.
The phone has already shown up at the Indian Bureau of Standards which suggests the Nothing Phone (2) launch will be happening sooner rather than later, at least it will in India.
