First fully electric BMW iX1 SUV is launched for ₹66.90 Lakh

After all, it's all about turning heads!

The BMW iX1 SUV has rolled onto the red carpet and it's got a price tag of ₹66.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The car is exclusively available in the xDrive30 variant, and with this the BMW X1 lineup has officially become a powertrain smorgasbord, you can have one in petrol, diesel or just get the electric option.

When it comes to looks, the BMW iX1 is a spitting image of the X1, and that's because they share the same body and platform. So, you're getting that familiar appearance, complete with sculpted adaptive LED headlamps sporting the signature crescent-shaped LED DRLs and 18-inch M light alloy wheels. The kidney grille is also like the X1 but it features the distinct 'i' insert. In India, BMW is also offering the M Sport trim, which amps up the sportiness with some sharp bumpers and alloys. On the rear, you'll spot a similar design, complete with L-shaped LED DRLs and a sizable diffuser.

Step inside the BMW iX1, and you're in for some visual pleasure. The cabin boasts a sleek and contemporary layout, one of the headlining features is the BMW Curved Display, where you'll find a 10.7-inch infotainment display and a 10.25-inch instrument display all integrated into a single panel. It is loaded with M Sport goodies, including a sporty steering wheel, M Anthracite headliner, and ambient lighting to set the mood just right. The front row gets electrically adjustable seats, and for that extra touch of luxury, there are massage seats up front. And did we tell you about the panoramic glass roof? More like a window to the sky.

For the time being, the BMW iX1 is only available in the iX1 xDrive30 variant. It combines two electric motors, one at each axle, churning out a total of 313bhp and 494Nm of torque. BMW says with this electric muscle, the iX1 can go from 0 to 100kmph in just 5.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 180kmph. Powering the motors is a 66.4kWh battery pack, granting the BMW iX1 a claimed WLTP range of an impressive 440km. And to make the most of that range, the driver can tap into various regen and drive modes. The car comes with a 11kW AC charger which, as per BMW, adds 100 per cent charge in 6.3 hours while a 130kW DC fast charger can take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in 29 mins.

The BMW iX1 comes packed with a host of tech to make your journey a little more delightful. First up, there's the BMW xDrive AWD system, ensuring you've got the traction and control you need. The automatic differential brakes, dynamic traction control, hill start assist, hill descent control and Adaptive M Suspension, all work together to keep you in command, no matter the terrain. The iX1 boasts Active Park Distance Control with sensors both front and rear, a Rear View Camera, Parking Assistant, and the Reversing Assistant to make parking easier. The Attentiveness Assistant ensures you stay alert on those long drives. Plus, there's a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) on board. This includes Lane Departure Warning, Cruise Control with Braking Function, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Pedestrian Protection.
