Garmin Marq Carbon Collection watches boast a Fused Carbon Fibre build

A fusion of tech and design!

Garmin is expanding its Marq (Gen 2) smartwatch series with the introduction of the new Marq Carbon Collection. This collection is made up of three timepieces: the Marq Athlete, Marq Commander and Marq Golfer. What sets this series apart, As per Garmin, is the new Fused Carbon Fibre build, which it claims has been "decades in the making.”

This material, Garmin says, is 62% lighter than titanium and is also more resistant to abrasion. It's composed of 130 layers of carbon fibre, rotated during the manufacturing process to ensure the housing's strength remains intact. Garmin employs heat and pressure to align the block with the shape of the watch housing, bending the layers to match the angles of the watch lugs. It is then machined using a diamond-cutting tool over several hours, resulting in lightweight components that sport a spiral pattern, which can be seen throughout the material.

In the Marq Carbon series, the middle case and bezel are made from Fused Carbon Fiber, while the buttons, outer bezel ring, and caseback are crafted from grade 5 titanium and finished with a black DLC coating.

While the new Marq Carbon Collection introduces some material innovations, it's essentially in sync with the regular Marq 2 series in terms of core specs. That means the smartwatches come in a 46mm case size and feature AMOLED displays. When it comes to keeping you powered up, the MARQ Carbon Collection offers up to 6 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and 21 days when you switch on battery saver mode.
Each device in this collection also comes with a distinctive set of features like, the Marq Athlete is decked out with Garmin's HRM-Pro Plus chest strap heart rate monitor for precise biometrics. The Marq Golfer, on the other hand, comes with three Approach CT10 club tracking sensors to up your golf game. And the Marq Commander comes with two straps, one crafted from heathered black woven nylon and the other in black silicone rubber.

The Athlete edition comes for $2,950 (approx ₹ 2,45,591). If you've got your sights set on the Golfer or Commander versions, those come for $3,100 (approx ₹2,58,000) and $3,200 (₹2,66,000) respectively.
