Google Pixel 6a is a budget-friend Pixel 6

Pixel for budget hunters

Looking to buy a new Google Pixel, but aren't willing to spend all your savings on it? No problem. Google has announced the addition of The Pixel 6a to their new smartphone lineup. With a 6.1in OLED display, the Pixel 6a is both, more pocket and palm friendly. At the cost of taking a step back on the camera front, that is. With no compromise on power, the Pixel 6a contains the same Tensor chipset you’ll find in its bigger siblings, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 pro.

The smartphone has the standard design with a flat panel with skinny bezels at all sides, protected by Gorilla Glass 3, just like the Pixel 6. Although it’s one step behind the older phone in the refresh rate stakes. You get a 60Hz panel, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of on-board storage. The device also contains the Titan M2 security co-processor, which Google believes gives it the edge over hackers and data thieves.

Google promises 24 hours of juice on the 4306mAh battery, or up to 72 hours with the power-sipping Extreme Battery Saver mode. Fast charging is at 30W, so a full top-up should take between one and two hours.

The real cutback from the Pixel 6 is seen in the change to the rear cameras, which forgo any high pixel count sensors or periscope cleverness. You get a 12.2MP main snapper, along with a 12MP ultrawide and a 8MP front camera. Of course, Google’s algorithms are beyond great, so we’re expecting good things from the Pixel 6a in all lighting conditions.

The Pixel 6a will be available to order directly from Google later this month. Prices will start from $449 in the US (34,000 approx). Indian pricing and availability is not available at the time of writing.
