Google’s latest Nest Cams, Doorbell and Home Speaker are all Gemini AI-powered

AI everywhere!

Google has unveiled its latest range of smart home devices, featuring the 3rd Gen Nest Cam Indoor, 2nd Gen Nest Cam Outdoor, 3rd Gen Nest Doorbell, and the new Google Home Speaker. These products are powered by a tailored version of Gemini AI, dubbed Gemini for Home, which is optimised for smart home use to deliver more intuitive interactions and enhanced performance.

Nest Cams and Doorbell

The new Nest Cams and Doorbell deliver 2K HDR video for sharper, more detailed visuals, with expanded field-of-view angles, 152-degree diagonally for the Nest Cams and 166-degree for the Nest Doorbell. This lets you monitor larger areas efficiently. Built with an IP65 rating, the devices are resistant to dust and water, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments.

Powered by Gemini for Home, these Nest devices come with a range of AI-driven features. You can receive detailed notifications, such as “dog jumps out of playpen,” to understand exactly what’s happening at home. The Ask Home feature lets users search video history with questions like, “What happened to the vase in the living room?” and receive descriptive summaries along with relevant clips.

Home Brief condenses hours of footage into short, easy-to-review highlights. Additional capabilities include digital zoom, camera cropping, and intelligent alerts for detecting people, vehicles, or animals. The devices are now available in select markets, including the US, UK, Australia, Japan, France, Canada, Germany, Italy, and other regions.

Google Home Speaker

The new Google Home Speaker delivers 360-degree sound and supports pairing for surround audio setups. Fully integrated with Gemini AI, it offers more natural conversational interactions and improved voice recognition, making it a central hub for managing smart home devices.

The speaker includes a dynamic light ring that provides visual cues, glowing to indicate when Gemini AI is listening, processing, responding, or operating in Gemini Live mode. Users can also pair two Google Home Speakers with a Google TV Streamer to create a home theater audio system.

It comes in four new colors, Porcelain, Hazel, Jade, and Berry. The Google Home Speaker is set to launch in spring next year in select regions.
