Here’s what you need to know about Motorola's Moto AI

Your phone's about to get a whole lot smarter

Motorola is taking the smart route when it comes to AI. Pretty much what Apple is doing by offloading the AI bits to a third-party AI service. So Motorola isn't doing it alone; they've teamed up with AI powerhouses like Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Perplexity to give users a choice of their preferred AI agent and integrate some seriously cool tools. Moto AI is designed to be more than just a digital assistant; it's aiming to be a proactive and amalgamate other AI models under one single search.

So, what can Moto AI actually do? It can ping Perplexity, Co-pilot or Gemini for answers depending on the user’s query and which third-party AI Moto AI thinks is best suited to answer it. The new Razr and Edge families are getting a major upgrade with four new Moto AI features: Next Move, Playlist Studio, Image Studio, and Look and Talk.

The Next Move feature offers tailored recommendations based on what's on your screen, whether it's a recipe or travel plans. The Playlist Studio creates the perfect soundtrack for any activity or mood, even something as specific or random as "Pizza night Y2K jams".The Image Studio brings some fun to chats and social media, using generative AI to create images, avatars, stickers, and wallpapers. For Razr 60 Ultra users, the Look and Talk feature enables hands-free assistance with a simple glance at the screen.

Motorola has also integrated Perplexity's AI-enhanced search directly into Moto AI, giving users the option to "Explore with Perplexity" for deeper dives into any topic. And for those who want to get the most out of Google’s AI, eligible Motorola devices will come with three free months of Google One AI Premium, which includes access to Gemini Advanced.

The Moto AI also comes with a new AI key on the Razr 60 Ultra and Edge 60 Pro, as well as a floating icon and smart search. Motorola is also including Microsoft Copilot, accessible through Moto AI.

Photography is also getting an AI boost. The Signature Style feature automatically tunes images, and the Group Shot feature blends multiple shots to ensure everyone looks their best (and nobody’s eyes are closed). The initial Moto AI features, Catch Me Up, Pay Attention, and Remember This, are also getting updates and enhancements.
