HP and Google team up to produce Chromebooks in India

Cheaper and more accessible?

HP and Google have joined forces to produce Chromebooks in India, showcasing support to the ‘Make in India’ initiative. This collaboration is geared towards a shared mission—bolstering the digital education landscape in India. If manufactured in India, we can expect (more) cost-effective devices aimed at students.

The Chromebooks will be made at the Flex Facility near Chennai, which HP has been using to craft various laptops and desktops since August 2020. The assembly lines for HP Chromebooks kicked into gear on October 2, 2023. HP has beefed up its manufacturing presence in India since 2020. They began making an array of laptops in India, including HP EliteBooks, HP ProBooks, and the HP G8 series notebooks, starting in December 2021.
