Mahindra introduces the BE Rall-E SUV concept with a focus on off-roading

Rall-E behind the concept!

Mahindra has seemed to take it upon itself to be one of the pioneers of all things electric in the automotive industry. From the Formula E team to the extensive lineup of electric SUVs they have planned for us in these upcoming years. If you aren’t familiar with their INGLO electric vehicle platform you can read all about it here, before we dive into the newest addition to the platform. While it may mildly resemble one of our earliest renders of a car in our preschool days, this rugged side of the INGLO vehicle platform, dubbed the BE Rall-E concept is truly something to gawk at.

Revealed at the Grand Homecoming in Hyderabad, this vehicle has drawn inspiration from the BE.05 concept SUV, except the BE Rall-E concept is far more hardcore in its off-road capacity with the rally-inspired form, reimagined bumpers and beefed up side-sills.

In terms of looks, if slightly alien is what you are going for, the future will not disappoint. With sharp features dawning the body, the striking SUV-coupe profile of the BE.05 has been retained although the front fascia seems to have seen a notable update. The entire front bumper has been redesigned, including the LED DRLs, in a new metallic with a prominent tow hook, skid plate, and inset round headlamps. Meanwhile, the BE.05's gloss cladding has been replaced with a matte silver finish, and the sills have additional underside protectors to add to the more rugged off-road appearance.

The rear has been redesigned in part, with a simpler lightbar and a chunkier rear bumper with a more pronounced skid-plate element. The off-road transformation has been completed by a metal carrier mounted to the roof that housed a spare wheel, auxiliary lighting, and all-terrain Maxxis tyres wrapped around black steel wheels.

While the powertrain and interior details have not been revealed just yet, sketches of the interior shared by the brand have revealed a similar design to that of the BE.05 but with different upholstery and colour combinations to give it a sportier feel. The brand claims this concept showcases the true blue off-road and all-surface capability of products built on the INGLO architecture. What we can expect from the concept is the ability to have an all-wheel drive layout with electric motors on each axle. The INGLO platform should accommodate both single (rear-wheel drive) and dual motor (all-wheel drive) setups, with the latter being made available in the forthcoming XUV.e and BE production vehicles.

Mahindra presented the XUV.e9 and the typical BE.05 SUVs at its event in addition to the new off-road concept. So stay tuned to see what the electric future holds for us!
